[nnc-list] The Email List, Website, etc.

Hi everyone,

Your reclusive, anti-social Webmaster(ish) here. I have three things:

1) Anyone who is subscribed to this list can post to this list. To
post, simply send a message to:
nnc-list at northernneckcycling.org

So if folks want to organize weekend rides again, please feel free to do
so. But please don't feel limited to larger organized rides. If you
want to find someone fun ride some week-night (or whatever), go ahead
and post (at least a few days ahead of time of course).

2) When someone posts to the list, you can reply back to the list by
hitting the "reply all" option in most mail client s (Outlook,
Thunderbird, Mail.app, or whatever). If you hit "reply" it will go
directly to the original poster.

3) With Fletcher gone, and Donald not posting routes and such this year
(Donald, are you still on this list?), we should decide what to do with
the site. I originally built the it with a "content management system"
that is fairly easy to use (point and click uploads of images, maps,
routes, etc.). Is there anyone out there who would like to take over
the role of maintaining the site? I will continue to provide the server
if anyone is interested, and will apply security patches etc. to the CMS
itself, but I don't really have the time or inclination to maintain the
content.

If not, perhaps we should scale back the site to basically just point
people to this mailing list (or ditch this list entirely and set up a
Yahoo or Google group). Keeping the routes (and maps) that Donald and
Fletcher set up seems like it would be nice too, but I don't know how
others feel about it.

Or just play it by ear and see if the group itself picks up again.

Feel free to reply on the list (I'd like to keep the group involved in
the discussion). Or perhaps we should actually get together some
evening and discuss the future of the group as a whole.

Take care,
Eric
